EDINBURGH'S latest teenage singing sensation, who dazzled celebrity judges in a UK talent competition, is set to share a stage with a Bee Gee and a Rolling Stone.
Jack Robertson's performance of I Know Where I'm Going, from the musical Hairspray, ensured he beat ten other finalists to win the Festival4Stars competition under the musical theatre category for 14s and under on Sunday.
As part of his prize, the
13-year-old will perform on stage alongside an array of world-famous artists in January. He will appear at a London ball celebrating 50 years of the Bee Gees.
The star-studded line-up includes Bee Gee Robin Gibb, former Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, Lulu, Beverley Knight, Texas's Sharleen Spiteri, Natasha Hamilton from Atomic Kitten and Paolo Nutini.
The Liberton High pupil, who is particularly looking forward to performing with Natasha Hamilton, said: "It's going to be brilliant to meet them all. I didn't know that was going to be the prize until I got there that day. It would be brilliant just to have a conversation with any of them.
"Lulu and everyone are going to be there and they're all big names. It will be good to be able to say that I have sang beside them.
"Natasha Hamilton is brilliant – she's got a brilliant voice."
The event on January 9 will see Jack perform to his biggest audience to date – around 2000 people – at the Battersea Evolution in London.
"I'm nervous, because if I slip up it's in front of thousands, but I'm sure I will be fine," he added.
Jack lives in Netherbank View, Liberton, with mother Claire and father Keith, both 43, and younger brother Sam, 11.
Mrs Robertson said: "It's more music from my era. I think he's heard the Bee Gees playing in the house when I've had people round, so I'll play him the CD.
"For him to perform with any one of the singers is exciting. You just don't believe that your own son would be singing with people like that.
"I'm a bit star-struck at the moment, if you want the truth – I'm like 'somebody pinch me'."
Jack's first brush with fame came last week, when his singing impressed the audience at the Radio Forth Awards at the Assembly Rooms.
He had been spotted by Grant Stott at a school talent show and asked to open the awards ceremony, which also featured performances from a host of famous bands and singers.
Celebrity judge Duncan James, formerly of boy band Blue, told him: "Wow, young man, you were absolutely amazing."
