ALMOST 200 people are waiting on treatment for coronary heart disease at hospitals in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
NHS Lothian has 120 people on its waiting list for a coronary revascularisation and a further 75 for angiography.

The list includes 110 patients living within the region and 85 from outside the region.

The statistics, from ISD Scotland, show an improvement on three months ago. In September 112 more patients were on the waiting list, with 147 waiting for an angiography procedure and 155 for a coronary revascularisation.

Heart attacks have fallen by more than a third in recent years following the introduction of more specialised treatment and campaigns focusing on healthy living.
