A TEACHER from the Capital is heading to Guyana to teach maths and science to underprivileged children.
Martha Christie, of Firrhill High School, leaves Edinburgh in September to embark on the year-long experience.

She will work for Project Trust, a gap year charity, and must raise £4600 for the placement.

Ms Christie has so far banked £3000 and is holding a "Crossbar Challenge" at Firrhill High next month to raise further funds.

Pupils will pay 20p for a shot to hit a crossbar during lunchtimes from February 3 to 5.
