A CITY apprentice has been named the best in his year by the National Construction College.
Chris Hamilton, 19, was named top first-year apprentice at the Scottish annual awards.

Mr Hamilton, who is employed as an apprentice by John Dennis & Co, was recognised alongside his peers for his hard work, skill and determination, which the apprentices have demonstrated whilst working in their field.

The NCC awards, which are sponsored by Construction Site Solutions, celebrate the achievements of those students who have done extremely well in their field, and act as a marker for other students to work towards.

Training manager of NCC Scotland, Allen Robertson, said: "These young people should be extremely proud of what they have achieved over the past year as we certainly are.

"Although the industry is facing challenging times this year, the long-term forecast looks encouraging with output expected to pick up by 2011 according to the latest figures."
