EDINBURGH'S George Hotel has completed a multi-million pound extension adding 50 new rooms.
The latest addition to the four-star hotel completes a further £5.5m investment, part of a £20m refurbishment and development programme.

The extension has seen the creation of 50 new bedrooms, and a Panorama Suite on the top floor, which boasts some of the best views of the city from the castle to the bridges and serves as a reception room for up to 50 people.

David Welch, general manager of The George Hotel, said: "We are thrilled with the final additions to our multi-million refurbishment and development programme.

"The deluxe double bedrooms have certainly exceeded our expectations and the views from the Panorama Suite are magnificent."

The George Hotel was recently named Edinburgh Hotel of the Year at this year's Scottish Hotel Awards

The buildings date back to 1775, when Edinburgh's New Town, and it was first opened as a hotel in 1881, a conversion from three Georgian houses.
