THE Springboks are considering matching the All Blacks' haka at the rugby World Cup with a Zulu war dance they haven't used in 80 years.
South Africa coach Jake White says he has talked with national officials about reproducing the Zulu dance to answer the famed challenge New Zealand rugby teams have been performing before games for almost 120 years.

"The history books show that the 1926 Springboks performed a Zulu war dance in major matches on their tour," White said. "New Zealand have come up with a new haka recently and, quite honestly, I would like to use ours as a challenge to them.

"We have done this challenge before in our team room in the four years since I have been involved as coach, but it hasn't really taken off as an idea to do it in public. Not yet, anyway.

"This is no gimmick - it is a part of our rugby history and tradition."

The haka is a joke. I don't have anything against the Maori tradition but every country has a rich history and so to claim that NZ and other such counties should have special rights to hold stage before an international is wrong. It gives the All Blacks a chance to dominate the pitch before the whistle has even been blown and gives then unfair reverance in the game while the other team is forced to stand opposite and just watch.

What a wonderful idea, each nation, should be forced to do a jig, the Irish can riverdance onto the pitch and the Welsh can, well do what they do best just slabber into a pint but the cream would be seeing the English Morris dance in reply to the Haka.

As for us , we'll just fight amongst ourselves over whose ball it is and do what we do best at dances, stand at the side coz we cannae dance

They are of course assuming they will get to play NZ in the RWC!

This would explain why we are concentrating so hard on fitness pre world cup. We will probably do the Orcadian strip the willow in reply. That requires good fitness reserves to complete. Could do it with the opposition too - just so they don't feel left out.

#4 If certain ANC politicians have their way we might have to bring a representative team to this WC. In other words, a team dictated by racial quotas, meaning we would have to pressgang a few non white bystanders to make up the numbers.

8 - we too have bystanders who are in our squad, unfortunately too many of them make the final 15 that goes on the pitch.

The rugby threads are fortunate not to have the same issues as the footie ones. Long may it continue.
