Tebbit risks being expelled from Tories

LORD Tebbit, the former Conservative chairman and darling of the Thatcherite wing of the party, was yesterday warned that he risked being expelled for urging voters to shun the main parties in next month's European elections.
David Cameron, the Tory leader, warned Lord Tebbit he was in danger of having the party whip withdrawn after calling on voters to boycott the 4 June poll to demonstrate their anger at the expenses scandal.

"As a former party chairman, he should know a thing or two about party discipline and he should probably know a thing or two about the rules about supporting other parties," Mr Cameron said.

"He was treading a very careful path and I would warn him, if he slips off that path he's sitting as an independent."

I think the TV programme "Spitting Image" sculpted Tebbit's puppet perfectly. In the guise of a Leather clad thug, the character acted like it had probably been ejected from the Gestapo for cruelty. Ha ha ha they even had Heseltine as 'Tarzan'.

These were the days of the Tory state smashing the little people, the unions emasculated and 3 million people unemployed.

New Labour were elected in 1997 to replace that mob and look how badly the UK has suffered (Tories in Red). Under the control of both these political parties the people of the UK have been shafted.

Tebbit is clearly a Nationalist, so it's unsurprising that Cameron's warning him that he's close to overstepping the line.

Nationalism is a pernicious influence in British politics, whether it is to be found in UKIP, the BNP, the anti European wing of the Tory Party or in Scottish politics, where Nationalism is increasingly rearing its ugly head in the form of the apparently resurgent SNP.

The Master condemns the place of Nationalism in British politics.

#9 Observer: Tebbit is all about maintaining Britain's interests within the EU whereas the Scot Nats have a "Scotland uber alles" warcry and, like Tebbit, are not interested in cooperating as part of a wider entity (whether Europe, in the case of Tebbit, or Britain, in the case of the SNP) to the ultimate benefit of all parts. Like Tebbit's wing of the Tory Party, the SNP are Nationalists with a capital "N".

Nationalism is becoming an increasing scourge in modern Britain, in all its various manifestations, whether UKIP, the BNP or the SNP.

The point Tebbit is missing is this. The MP gravy train started in Thatchers era. If was a case of you can claim it boys so get on and do it. It's only due to the freedom of information act that this has come to light. I once sold a train ticket to a labour MP from Leeds to London a year ago and was puzzled at the time why she didn't want a recipt like most business claims require. Now I know why.

You forgot the ugly side of browns labour nationalism with the appalling britishness being artificially sold.

If you are against the nation state as you seem to propose then realistically you are advocating a federal europe and the removal of the uk as a sovereign nation.

A federal europe as you propose if that is what you want would be best with the component nations of the uk each a separate eu member.

As such the anti nation state you advocate demands the break up of britain.

If you are going to go anti nationalist ie the nation state then you really have to follow through on your logic.

Alan B - I doubt you'll get a straight answer from the master although you pose an interesting question.

Like I suspect many SNP voters are, I am a Scottish nationalist, not a "Nationalist".
It's a big difference, one is a means to an end, the other an end in itself. Master prefers not to acknowledge the difference.

Of course, you are presuming master means an end to borders through establishing bigger ones (he doesn't actually mean anything of the sort of course as we both know he means the status quo is best).
- he could be a closet anarchist and mean removing them altogether?

Oh what a load of old tosh. More troll tactics of fear and nat bashing.

In the 80s the tories abused thier position of power, where Labour ruled scottish politics. The tories elected in 1979 were set for a beating in the 1983 GE. The Falklands war saved Maggie's hide as the UK went on its jingoistic Nationalist Celebrations. Micheal Foot and Neil Kinnock being inneffectual and Labour unelectable through the remainder of the 80s and for most of the 90s.
The tories were obliterated by the 1997 election landslide won by Labour, the tories not having a single MP elected in Scotland.
Labour instigated devolution in scotland. The Scots had thier own parliament after almost 300 years and executed thier right to vote as they saw fit.
SNP were elected in 2007 as scotland bucked off the Lib-Lab pact who spouted a westminster Spun agenda. From the moment they took power the SNP have talked scotland up at every oppertunity. Cut prescription charges, abolished tolls on the road bridges, reduced students fees(the unionist parties blocked free education) and gave our elderly free public care. Not like england who lock thier elderly up in granny farms and sell thier houses from under them, to pay for thier keep(the same elderly who fought in World Wars or kept the home fires burning).

Voting SNP is a personal choice, where one party promises better behavior and dividends to the electorate than another parties.
Scotland endured the Tory Thatcher/Major years, endured the Lib-Lab pact in scottish politics, as the UK was dragged into illegal wars and have finaly had enough of ineptitude and corruption at the highest levels of power. Labour are at it, the tories are at it and the Lib-Dems are at it too.
The SNP are more trust worthy than the union parties, have tried thier damndest to improve the lot of scotland and its people and are far more deserving of our votes.

Lies, spun lies, corruption and greed are the scourge of politics in modern britain, not the SNP. Transparency is the scourge of the politician. We have transparency in scotland, politicians should be scared of the electorate.
In the UK we are scared of the state, the government machine fools, beguiles and misleads the people. When the people demonstrate against this, the police throw a cordon of steel around the demonstrators, video/photograph the people, put thier names, photos, addresses, intelligence gathered etc on a state data base of dissenters, non conformists and possible enemies of the state. Breaking the will of the people instead of supporting and promoting the electorates desires and wishes.

You "The Master" fear nationalism, I on the other hand fear the government machine and the state who pulverise the dreams of the many.
