NOEL'S MEMENTO

Noel Gallagher has admitted ripping out a piece of the floor from Abbey Road studios.
Oasis recorded their latest album, Dig Out Your Soul, at the famous studios once used by the Beatles. Gallagher, 41, claimed in an interview with Absolute Radio that he stole a section of the floor as a keepsake.

LENNY'S OTHELLO

Lenny Henry, 50, is to make his stage acting debut as Othello. The comedian will star in a production of Shakespeare's famous tragedy on a national tour.

The star said: "It seemed to me that Shakespeare was very much in the province of posh people. I'm black, I'm from Dudley, I'm working class. Shakespeare's not for people like us. But then when you study it, the way I have been, you realise that it's for everybody."

Othello will form part of the spring season at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds next year before going on a national tour.

STRIKING GOLD

Classic 1990s quiz show Going For Gold is being revived. John Suchet will take on the role in the comeback once held by host Henry Kelly.

The original saw people from different countries competing against each other, but contestants from the Continent have been ditched in the revival, to be broadcast by Five.

NASTINESS RETURNS

EastEnders' Nasty Nick is set to return to Albert Square this Christmas.

Nick Cotton, played by John Altman, will make his way back to the place he once called home. It has been seven years since he last appeared on the show.

Nick has been behind bars for the past few years and mystery surrounds what he has been up to, why he is back and whether he has changed his ways.

Altman said: "I look forward to seeing if Nick will once again spread fear and loathing throughout the Square!"
