A PLEA has been made by the city council to residents to be vigilant of elderly people they think may be at risk.
Timed to coincide with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, which takes place on Monday, the initiative involves agencies promoting awareness of the difficulties facing particularly elderly and frail people.

Whether it is abuse, being taken advantage of or simply not being able to cope the local authority said it welcomes calls from anyone who feels someone in their community may fall into one of those categories.

Health and social care leader Councillor Paul Edie said: "We have undertaken this initiative so that we can be in a better position to protect adults at risk."
