SCOTLAND'S oldest and most prolific osprey mother has hatched her 45th and 46th chicks, it was revealed yesterday.
And the bird, which travels 3,000 miles every year from Africa to Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Reserve, near Dunkeld, is now tending another egg that could hatch within days.
The osprey, believed to be about 24 years old, has laid 55 eggs at the reserve, with 46 of those producing chicks.
Birdwatchers have been able to view events thanks to a high-definition television link in the Scottish Wildlife Trust's centre at the reserve, and online.
