A DRUNK dentist smashed through nearly 70 support posts on the central reservation after downing wine in her car on the way to a dental course.
Samantha McKay, 32, claimed she swerved to avoid an animal on the A9, but admitted she was almost double the drink-drive limit.

Officers found her badly damaged vehicle wedged on the central reservation.

A court heard yesterday (that McKay stopped mid-journey between Aberdeen and Glasgow and bought a bottle of wine which she then opened.

She drank a significant portion of the bottle in her car in Dundee before setting off again, and crashed around 40 minutes later outside Perth.

McKay, of Insch, Aberdeenshire, admitted driving with excess alcohol on the A9 between Perth and Bridge of Allan on 4 June.

McKay, who said she had been under pressure at work, was banned from driving for a year and fined £500 by Sheriff Michael Fletcher.
