Palin 'prepared for war with Russia on Georgia'

Published Date: 13 September 2008
SARAH Palin warned yesterday she would be prepared to go to war with Russia to protect Georgia in her first interview since John McCain chose her as his vice-presidential nominee.
Calling Russia's invasion of its neighbour unprovoked, the Republican said she supported Georgia's application to join Nato even if it meant the United States could face a future confrontation with Moscow.

"I mean, that is the agreement when you
are a Nato ally. If another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon to help."

Her comments, broadly in line with the robust stance of Mr McCain, came amid criticism that the McCain camp had kept her away from the press for the fortnight since she was chosen for the ticket.

Opinion polls now show Mr McCain level with, or narrowly leading, Obama nationally.

The Palin interview was by turns feisty and nervous. She told ABC's Charles Gibson that despite having visited only four other countries in her life, and having never met a foreign head of state, she was prepared to take the helm in the event of a mishap befalling 72-year-old Mr McCain.

"I'm ready," she said. "I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink. You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on – reform of this country and victory in the war."

She gave enigmatic answers when asked if she would support Israeli strikes against Iranian nuclear installations, and on whether it was right to send troops into Pakistan after Osama bin Laden.

And she seemed off-guard when Gibson asked if she agreed with the Bush doctrine.

"In what respect, Charlie?" said Mrs Palin.

Gibson said: "What do you interpret it to be?"

"I believe that what President Bush has attempted to do is rid this world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are hell-bent on destroying our nation," she replied.

Gibson said the doctrine was formulated in 2002 and allowed for pre-emptive strikes on nations posing a threat.

"Charlie, if there is a legitimate and enough intelligence that tells us that a strike is imminent against American people, we have every right to defend our country," Mrs Palin said.

Critics judged the performance competent, not inspiring. Some of the answers may have surprised Mrs Palin's boss: Mr McCain is busy courting the green vote and is opposed to oil drilling in Alaskan wildlife refuges, but his running mate insists she supports it.

"We'll agree to disagree," she said, "but I'm gonna keep pushing that and I think eventually we're all gonna come together on that one."

Mrs Palin also appeared confused over her position on climate change, denying she once claimed it was not man-made.

"I have not said that," she said. "Show me where I have ever said that there's absolute proof that nothing man has ever conducted or engaged in has had any effect or no effect on climate change."

In fact, said ABC, she made the claim twice last year, telling one Alaskan newspaper: "I'm not an Al Gore, doom-and-gloom environmentalist, blaming the changes in our climate on human activity."

The interview is likely to further polarise opinion on the woman who all agree has turned this presidential election into a cliffhanger, convincing critics she is inexperienced, and supporters that she is tough and intelligent.

Meanwhile, the Obama campaign, which has stuttered of late, effectively relaunched.

"Today is the first day of the rest of the campaign," Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said in a strategy memo. "We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain's attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people."

The newest hard-line ad includes unflattering footage of Mr McCain in the early Eighties, wearing giant glasses and an out-of-style suit, interspersed with shots of a disco ball, a clunky phone, an outdated computer and a Rubik's Cube.

An Obama spokesman said the campaign was not making an issue of 72-year-old Mr McCain's age, but the time he's spent in Washington.

I heard that interview in its entirety. The woman said nothing of the sort. She did restate the basic rule of NATO which is that an attack on one is an attack on all - or have I missed something over the past 50+ years since NATO has existed?

What many need to know is that within the democratic party there are many that would not abide by the terms of Nato. That should be the cause for concern, not that Ms Palin believes one should honor their comittments should they have any.

Georgia is all about oil as per usual.
McCain's advisors make lorry loads of cash from Georgia, thats a fact.

The usual negative comments are always from those with their heads in the sand and gutless *sses in the air. What will you do pray tell me?Grovel until Putin's lot or the muslims take over?
As for the usual comments of "It's all about oil".So b**dy what? Could that be why BP is building a facility as I write, here in Dalian? Everyone is interested in oil you brainless berks.Oil and minerals. Why do you think Putin and Co are using it as a weapon?
All in your own wee world of fairyland UK! Palin has more cojones than any of the present UK Govt, FACT. She is to be commended for standing by Americas friends and the principles of NATO.Many in Europe will live to regret their craven attitude towards world terrorism,be it religious or state sponsored.Remember Neville Chamberlain,he followed a policy of appeasement. How many died as a result? You haven't the brains or common sense to learn from history.

You missed nothing about NATO.'All for one and one for all'.
That's why #4 is so right.
The trouble is that the Georgia affair was started with at least the consent of the US. War or even a state of hostility like the Cold War is unconscionable. If you disagree with me,I'm happy to give you a bibliography of WWI and WWII.
Ms Palin's statement about war with Russia demonstrates a quite incredible naivety.
#7 You're quite right; It's anti-American, but the majority of intelligent people have no respect for a people who could elect cretins like Reagan or George W.

#10 Another typically idiotic right wing statement. If it has to be brought up, WWII was a result of WWI which itself would have been avoided by appeasement.
What do you think Palin thinks of China?
Right wingers hate foreign right wingers more than they do their domestic left wingers (though to be fair, China and the USSR showed that the opposite is equaly as true).

Yep, that Reagan was a real dummy. In 1980, when he was elected, the Soviet Union was on the march. They had invaded Afghanistan and were driving toward the Gulf. They had murdered the elected president of Grenada and installed a puppet government. They were supplying communist guerrillas in Central America with weapons and training and were parking their bombers in Nicaragua. Charles de Gaulle described Central America as "an incident on the way to Mexico."

Then, they developed an entirely new class of mobile intermediate range ballistic missiles, the SS-20 and deployed them in the western most part of Russia and pointed them at all the major cites of Western Europe.

After he was elected but before he was sworn in, he was asked his views on the cold war, to which he answered, "We win, they lose." Of course this was greeted with the same howls of derision now heaped on W, except much, much worse. And still today there are people who still cannot come to grips with the brilliance of the Gipper.

He was a real dunce, for sure. You know who was a genius? A real statesman, a man for all seasons? Rorschach Test Head Gorbachev. Yep, the idiot Reagan and the suave, sophisticated Russian. But then, as Lenin said, "facts are stubborn things." Take a look at a map of the world and see if you can find the "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics." Then check and see if you can find any current mention of the activities of the Warsaw Pact.

Gorby was smart enough to lose an entire empire to the dolt Reagan. All those countries in the Warsaw Pact are now part of NATO. Yeah, that Reagan he was a real dunce. He won the cold war, liberated tens of millions of our brothers and sisters, and set the stage for the largest economic expansion in American history. Just think of what a re

God help us all if this "bimbo" gets into power, she 's obviously got her finger on the button and is ready to push it, especially when you read this statement she made.

"I mean, that is the agreement when you are a Nato ally. If another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon to help."

I don't recall Iraq having attacked anybody since their Kuwaiti invasion back in 1990 yet the US and UK are knee deep in there causing nothing but bloodshed to the innocent. So if you're not a NATO ally you're SOL.
And why again is it that NATO is in Afghanistan? I don't recall the nation of Afghanistan attacking anyone, but the NATO allies are decimating the Afghani population with their so called concern for world safety.
Obama may not be the ideal choice for president, but he sure as hell is better than the war mongering team of McCain and Palin.
The Americans stand for indiscriminate slaughter of anyone who rejects their screwed up form of Democracy and this Palin character loves to wage war just because she can.

Skinny gun toting animal killing hockey player, Sarah Palin, 'God's messenger', who like Lynne from Palm Beach has never stepped off American soil is now spouting off about strafing Russia to engage the world in a nuclear holocaust. Palin learnt about the world in kindergarten where her brain is still located.
When we look into a mirror we think the image that confronts us is accurate. But move a millimetre and the image changes. We are actually looking at a never-ending range of reflections. Americans are so deluded by CNN Fox propaganda that their only hope is to smash the mirror - for it is on the other side of that mirror that the truth stares at us.

Lynne has just hit the nail on the head and admitted that the US cares about nobody but their greedy little selves. Unfortunately your country happens to be part of our world so the sooner people like you, Cheney, Palin and company shut up and shove off, the better. Take your guns and bombs and zombie trained marines and send them to hell where they belong.

#23 Lynne,
It's high time you grow up Lynne. You better start worrying what the rest of the world thinks of your nation and its actions, for the rest of the world has had it up to the eyeballs with your war mongering attitude and its slaughter of innocent people all over the globe. You're one election away from total disaster if you put McCain and Palin onto power, for the world is not going to put up with another term of your war mongering leaders and Administration. Obama may not be much of a choice, but he at least will have the blessing of the rest of the world, a blessing that your nation needs. Unfortunately for you, your politics affect the whole globe and we all will have a say about what your destiny is for a change, for once you'll be on the receiving end and then you'll be able to see what the rest of us have seen for far too many years.
You're lucky that we here in China don't force our way on you, so it's time you stopped forcing your screwed up version of Democracy on the rest of the world.

For starters Mike my comment was directed at Lynne, but I'll entertain you just the same.
Your election outcome affects all of the world Mike, especially if you vote in McCain and Palin.
Just in case you haven't noticed, you are slowly but surely getting the wrath of the whole world on your hands for the simple reason that your lot can't stay at home and keep its own house in order. Your lot just barges in whereever it feels your way isn't being followed, so you'll just kill and slaughter until whatever country you have invaded caves to your pressure. Well Michael, those days are nearly over and then you WILL worry about what the rest of the world thinks.
Do we care who gets in?
No, not really, but you should.
BTW Mike, it must really bug the hell out of you that you guys can't buly China eh, you really need us more than we need you, and it's best you don't forget that, we surely won't forget that.

ever hear of Claire Lee Chennault? look him up...

we over here have this ideal... "we hold these truths to be SELF EVIDENT.... that ALL men are created equal"

ALL men postmark... that means you... (and I dont care if you are male or female)...

postmark, what you dont understand is that we believe that YOU deserve these rights because you are a human being... and, if necessary, will pick up arms to help you secure those rights... that NOBODY has the right to lead you around by the nose... BUT, with those RIGHTS comes the obligation to look out for others... the obligation to HELP our fellow man secure those rights for themselves... and the obligation to shine light on the deception of those who would deprive their fellow man of those rights...

if that "shining light" is bullying.... so be it

read the american declaration of independence and constitution... dont bother with the filter of what men have tried to DO with what they say... read it for what it says... the ideals put forth... understand that even IF wally and the conspiracy loons ARE right... THOSE documents codifys what the majority of us stand for, and are part of what drives wally to say the things he does, misguided as what he says is... and what we think YOU should be entitled to... simply because you breathe air...

To all those who are commenting here from around the world I just have one thing to say:

I'm so ashamed of my country right now. We have a culture here that has labeled intelligence as "elitism". Somehow my fellow Americans are falling for the most obvious trick ever attempted by the GOP. In 2004 I felt so sure that everyone could see what I could see, that Bush was a buffoon. But no. We elected him knowing full well that he was a terrible leader simply because he was the one people would most like to have a beer with. My country is fearful of intellectuals and would rather have a redneck moose hunter leading the free world than have to feel like they are inferior to that leader.

I am sickened by this place. Only a complete moron would listen to Obama speak, then Sarah Palin recite her talking points and then still argue that she is somehow more qualified. His qualifications are in his intelligence and sincerity, both of which she lacks. And both of which McCain has abandoned at the request of Karl Rove.

Everyone in the United States has officially gone crazy. Well, 55% of them.

Mike across the pond,
I'd have a whole lot more respect for the American Administration if it kept its ideals on American soil within its borders and let the rest of the world choose its own destiny. Here in China Communism works because we have a large population and we don't need the infighting that multiple parties bring. We also respect everybody else's choice and don't interfere with how anybody runs their country or rules its citizens and don't tell you which form of politics to choose. Communism doesn't work for you fine, don't have it. Democracy doesn't work for us or many other nations, so don't try to force it on somebody else. If you want respect, you have to show respect and that means by staying out of other country's politics and physically staying out of other countries.

I really wasn't insinuating that I personally should be president. I was just saying that Obama is a scholar and for some reason that irks people. Like you apparently.

All I am saying is give smart a chance. If Obama screws up then you can have your dumb yokels next election. Or go ahead and force your dumb yokels in now and we'll just have four more years of struggling with daily life. Gas prices in my town are at $5/gallon. I can't even afford to go to the doctor much less pay the doctor once I get there! McCain isn't really offering any ideas on how to fix problems like that. You can talk down Obama's plans, but at least he has them. He talks about what he wants to do, what his specific plans are to change the direction our country is going. McCain is so tragically not the person he used to be. He is up there giving vague promises that he has no record of supporting (green energy, health care, education...)

Thank you dear lady. At least not all people have been taken in by the lunnies.
The only Americans who hate America are liberals and they want to be more like socialist Russia I guess. Obama's wife
isn't proud of her country. Sarah Palin is
and the democrats are trying to make Palin out to be the bad guy. Its is the intellectuals who have a problem with her.
You know because we are stupid and below them. I wonder why we would think that smell like elitism.

#44 mike - across the pond,
Well Mike if you're such an expert on China and its ways then why don't you explain to all of us what will get us sent for re-education here in China?
Knock us all you want, but we at least stay at home and keep things in check where they need to kept in check, and that's within our borders and yes that includes Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia.
You don't see our physical presence all over the world except for our products and of course our money that has so far saved your bacon. We have invested heavily financially where we deem fit and that's perfectly alright, but you don't see us forcing Communism on anybody, for some reason your lot is trying to force "Democracy" on many countries that don't want any part of it. Ironic isn't it that Democracy represents freedom but you force it on everyone who doesn't want it. Nice freedom Mike, please keep your version of freedom to yourselves, we have much more freedom here than you'll ever have or see.

What is the big deal with being "elite"???? Is McCain not elite? He doesn't even know how many houses he owns! It seems like a silly reason to vote or vote against any politician. Clearly they are all "elite" if they were fortunate or cunning enough to be elected in the first place.

You are proving my point: people are being conditioned to believe that smart=elite. It's silly.

This election is a reality show nightmare.

I didn't like clinton. My country has done more good, helped more people, fought and died for more people of all colors and still does. I may not like the sitting president but he is not my country. This country is number one in all of the best ways. It stands for everything that is good in mankind even if a president doesn't necessarily reflect that at any given moment.
Your intellectual president didn't have time for the country and it's people because his mind was in his shorts. Say what you like about bush but leave my country out of it.

McCain's policies really don't differ from Bush's. And he's embracing Bush strategists... the same ones who completely threw ethics out the window to trash him in 2000. The turning point where I lost all respect for McCain is when he came to Liberty University to give a commencement speech with Jerry Falwell smiling on him. These were the same people he said were the problem with the Republican party. And here he was, kissing up to them.

Roughly 50% of your population are good people, it's just that the other roughly 50% are chest thumping idiots who think that you can force your ideals and politics onto the rest of the world, and Palin clearly backs up my statement with her statements. Why is it that if you belong to NATO, US led NATO I should mention, you're part of the protected and looked after, but if you don't fall in step with the way the US thinks then you're worthy of getting bombed and attacked?
You have no comments because you only troll the ones you don't like and really have no mind nor opinion of your own.

Why would that bug him? We're capitalists and we spend our time in productive work because we live in a competitive society. Why waste there time on trying to bully you?

I'm curious about this whole "you can't bully us, but we can threaten you" deal. I think you have serious issues that have nothing to do with politics. Your "Bully," obsession obviously comes from you, pmp, getting bullied during your 'formative years.'

You know, besides having an unpleasant personality, what with being prone to throwing out meaningless and empty threats, these things don't happen in a vacuum. There is a sad story here. Come on you can tell us. We promise not to laugh. Does your mother dress you funny? Do you have a lisp and throw like a girl? Just because your liable to stop what your doing and belt out a tune by Miss Liza Minelli does that give anybody the right to bully you? No it doesn't! It's got to stop!

Its you that's always tossing out the 'we're better that you are' attitude. Look, what we get from China can quickly and would quickly get replaced by other suppliers even if they didn't use slaves and political prisoners to keep labor cost down.

There is something in your comments though that bears a serious answer. Here is a quote from your post:

" and it's best you don't forget that, we surely won't forget that." Best we don't forget? You know what, squints, that sounds like a threat to me. Is it? "Best we don't forget that?" Are you serious? Why, what are you going to do us if we forget? I mean you say, " we surely won't forget that."

Oh no! Help, help! postmarkpussy isn't forgetting! Call out the militia, alert the press, board up the windows and send the women and children up into the hills! Look, pufferfish, you don't scare

"read the american declaration of independence and constitution"
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.” Reciting those words every school day as Mike obviously did has a way of depleting independent thought. US childhood “education” embedding this ridiculous pledge in kids brains forever. The United States Constitution, the “Pride of America,” What a joke! BRAINWASHING AMERICANS UNDER THE NAME OF FREEDOM. THE SIMPLETONS OF THE WORLD. The US economy is on its last legs and is about to crash like the fall of the Roman Empire and with the election of McCain and Palin it's demise is guaranteed. China is quietly waiting in the wings ready to pounce. Ha! Poor Mike, you can spout off as much as you like. I am not sure what Palin said, you can never trust the media to report the facts. But for the sake of this thread let us assume she did say she was prepared to go to war with Russia in order to protect Georgia.

That would be silly! America and other troops are incapable of winning in Iraq against semi professional soldiers with no shoes or formal training. How can anyone expect them to take on Russia?

Elitists Retreat, New York 13/09/2008 14:58:12
An "elitist" appears to be anyone who uses words
in excess of two syllables, does not drop the "ing" sound in the word "reading," and does not greet people by saying "HEY." A hateful bunch !

"Elitists" unknowingly create ill-will among the undereducated, as this myopic group is perpetually ultra-sensitive to criticism; always a chip on the shoulder, always conscious of their own intellectual
shortcomings, but rarely correcting the situation by
actual study and thought outside of the mainstream.

However, during this campaign season, it is also clear that the words "elitist," "uppety," and "community organizer" have been convenient substitutes for
racial reference. . . the "N" word, aimed at Obama.
You've heard this on the news; I think it's very true.

Here's the test: Just feel how you are reacting to my words. How did you feel when your couldn't identify the "Bush Doctrine" in Gibson's interview of Palin ?

A quick jolt of self-deficiency, followed by feelings of hatred for Gibson. Familiar ? Angry responses to this only prove the point, right ?

This is how people feel when they don't read or think on their own, like children among adults. Very simple.

Who do I think I am to say these things ? Clearly a capitalist, freedom-loving, self-employed, book-reading, family-loving, hard-working tradesman
"elitist" living in farm-country !

Pat Buchanan, the former Republican presidential candidate and a foreign policy isolationist who opposed the war in Iraq, the project most closely associated with the neo-cons, said: "Sarah Palin has become overnight the most priceless political asset the neo-con movement has". "Look for the neo-cons to move with all deliberate speed to take her into their camp by pressing upon her advisers and staff, and steering her into the AEI-Weekly Standard-War Party orbit." The AEI, or American Enterprise Institute, is a free-market think-tank with many neo-cons among its members. Now many believe that the "neo-cons", whose standard bearer in government, Vice President Dick Cheney lost out in Washington power struggles to the more moderate defence secretary Robert Gates and secretary of state Condoleezza Rice last year are seeking to mould Mrs Palin to renew their influence.

you quote me the "pledge of allegiance" and deride us for it... you dont answer any of the questions... or even respond... btw... did you know that little ditty keeps away the jehovas witnesses...

so only cowards shoot helpless animals... professing THAT sentiment you are a vegetarian... correct??

the palins are HUNTERs... as are MANY americans... and many people the world around not in walking range of the local market, and a LOT who are.... hunters dont just "shoot animals".... hunters only shoot what they intend to eat... simple "law" of hunting... if you can PROVE that the Palins go out "tropy hunting"... talk on... and I'd LOVE to see you out "hunting"... you'd QUICKLY become a vegetarian, more out of necessity than by choice... lol

Pat Buchanan is a NUT CASE... WAAAY to the right so far right that the nutjobs at MSNBC embrace him more as a human caracature of "neocons"... buchanan is the republicans version of JoeBiden... somebody who ran for pres, ran again, and again, again... never really gaining much traction...

one thing that impresses me about this controversy is as follows. Palin says in an interview she'd be loyal to the terms of this NATO treaty even if that means war with Russia. So Palin is fiercely loyal to this NATO scrap of paper. What about the US Constitution? She wants to serve a government that violates its provisions every day.

Tenth ammendment should limit the size & functions of government dramatically. 1'st ammendment - trash, same with 4 or 5 others. Congress declare war? No, that doesn't happen. US government sovereign to create its own US dollars rather than a private for-profit bank? no. states' rights - no.

Palin has loyalty to New World Order institution NATO, but not to the law of our land. and here in america people are too stupid to figure it out. flag-waving for NATO - idiots.

Education is not really high on most people's lists here in the USA. As a result, we have a vast population of intellectually-inbred "followers" who only want to see themselves reflected in their political candidates. ( He's the kinda guy you could have a beer with !" )

While the Democratic folks squabble among themselves, as diverse peoples will do in a democracy, the Republicans very effectively target the "followers"
among us and pretend that they are on the side of the people. Hence. . . a Sarah Palin !

As they say in Brooklyn. . ."what's not to like?"
She IS what many of us are; under-educated, naive, un-travelled, boldly assertive, simplistic and ( when scripted) knows how to appeal to all of the "moms" out there who have had difficult lives and are equally uninformed regarding the USA and it's place in the world.

Unfortunately, she's the bait for a very sinister continuation of the "Bush Doctrine," yet many people
see her as the answer to their prayers. As with all things, time will tell and the "truth will out."

My perceptions could prove to be very wrong, but I simply do not hear any real understanding of issues in her words; all I hear are slogans, one-liners and gibberish for the masses. I've heard several
fundamentally incorrect assessments by Palin during her interview and I wonder what's to become of us with yet another ill-informed leader at the helm.

We are members of a world community, whether we wish to face it or not; we are in DIRECT competition with foreign workers and manufacturers and we are NOT
up to speed due to our anti-intellectual prejudice.
This "I'm OK / You're OK" candidate is an attempt to keep us the ignorant, close-minded poopulation we have grown to be; easily influenced by lapel pins, moose burgers, four-wheeler races and the like.

We really need to grow up and face the music. . . .

you ask about "the bush doctrine" like it is some codified list, a document somewhere... like "the monroe doctrine"... you castigate her because she demured answering a question on what is a loosely assembled set of policies that are in still the process of evolution?

gibson asked many "sound byte" questions... you glorify those questions, and lines of questioning... to palins credit she recognized MOST of those traps, and contextualized her response... which frustrates you "haters" to NO end.

does that make you an elitist? not even close... it makes you an "elitist-wanna-be" a clinger-on...

Sarah Palin the political cavewoman
"I believe that under the leadership of [President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad, nuclear weapons in the hands of his government are extremely dangerous to everyone on this globe," Palin asserted. Actually nuclear weapons codes in the hands of gun toting reindeer eating Alaskan hockey mum Sarah Palin are even more dangerous to everyone on the globe. What about Palin's interview with Gibson where she kept churning out the same repetitive tripe over and over again like a tape recorder. Can someone please tell me Palin's qualifications to become vice president? Just a heartbeat away from the biggest half-baked Alaskan nightmare. Der Speigel editorial says "Sarah Palin's Pentacostalist past explains a lot about what she says in public, but the McCain campaign wants to play it down. Can a gas pipeline really be a manifestation of God's will?.... Sarah Palin has shown a habit of investing secular matters with religious meaning.... Palin acts as though all political decisions emanated directly from a divine resolution-and as if the Republican understanding of this resolution were the only one that could be correct."

I see you as more of a "proto-intellectual"

on your way to intellectualism...

remember the mike tyson/buster douglass fight? and how it ended? douglass knocked tysons mouthpiece out, and tyson to the canvass... tyson forgot that his GOAL was to stand up... instead while the referee was counting him out, he was chasing his mouthpiece across the ring... he got his mouthpiece... and was counted out...

there are GOALS that I dont think either of us substantially differ on, humanity, human rights, the gifts of freedom and liberty. what I think the "neo-elitists" are forgetting is that sometimes prices HAVE to be paid for those goals.

it is a testament that you seem embrace elitism, I'm not the smartest guy out there... I can be wrong... I try real hard NOT to be wrong... and I can embrace new ideas...

I do find it alarming that the "elitists" like BO appear unwilling to pay the price... or devalue the fredoms of our fellow man... shrugging their shoulders saying "its none of our business"... you think that attitude would have been ok for Rosa Parks?

the question conservatives answer is... What is the rent you are willing to pay on the space you occupy? elitists chaffe at that question, often feigning ignorance...

Andrew BOD in 82:

Palin's church in her home of Wasilla is called Assembly of God. Their preacher had many sermons on their website, but they were all taken down. a famous one that was circulated prior to the take-down had Palin speaking confidence that god was behind the US waging of war in Iraq.

I would say all christian church leaders will tell you they believe there is to be an 'end times' because the bible speaks this. However, Palin's church is a dispensasationalist church. so they believe in a new theology from the last 150 years, they believe there will be a multitude of bad things happening to the world during this 'end-time', but that they themselves will be able toavoid this by means of being raptured off of planet earth. Their leader uses the language of the dominion christians who feel they should ally themselves with powerful governments in this world, they feel that pre-emptive wars against muslims are god's will. they also tend to idolize the modern state of Israel. Palin had an Israeli flag in her office as Wasilla mayor.

The other christians that don't believe this new theology from the last 150 years also believe that there will be a multitude of bad things happening to the people of the earth during these 'end-times', but that they will be present through it. these will include many wars, some famines and a general re-ordering of things so that things are very very hard on poor people, so that people are put under the spells of drugs & idolatry. but the traditional christians do not believe in allying with the powerful governments to make things like this happen as the dominion christians do.

at conclusion of these end-times jesus will return, judgement will occur and the kingdom of heaven will be built here on earth.

some FACTS about palin and the Wasilla AoG church

1. the preacher you want to hang around Palins neck... became pastor in 1999

2. the Palins left that congregation in 2002

3. the pastor of the church said that "the Palins left because the Palins found the church not to be providing them what they sought"

got a problem with any of that?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

as far as prayers... which if you did a half ounce of research you would understand that what you reference that Palin said in that church WAS a prayer...

compare that to this.... FDR's D-day prayer

Gun toting bimbo Sarah Palin, ready to bring more torture, cluster bombs, depleted uranium, innumerable acts of random murder, misery, degradation and death to the people of the world and call it 'bringing freedom and democracy to the globe' while US inflation is at a 27 year high while personal incomes are down 1.6% from last month. Worse, that’s just one reason why one Wall Street analyst believes the US is "facing the prospect of a depression and the end of the American Dream." The end of your dream Mike. Ha ha, LOL. The Fannie and Freddie bail-out is a blatant attempt to boost John McCain's Republican campaign for the presidency however experts predict major fallouts will occur and have a nasty domino effect soon after the US election.

"can you tell me what country georgia attacked" "osettia is a province of GEORGIA"
Are you sure about that Mike? Saakashvili agreed the timing was not coincidental, but accused Russia of being the aggressor. "Most decision makers have gone for the holidays," he said in an interview with CNN. "Brilliant moment to attack a small country" Why would tie eating Saakashvili the president of GEORGIA call South Ossetia a small country??? LOL

Exactly a year ago, America’s maverick investor Jim Rogers was quoted by the US media predicting that the dollar and stock markets were bound to collapse at the rate the US Fed was increasing money supply. His forecast has been spot on. Now, this die-hard fan of China is convinced that the world, led by the US, is headed for the worst recession since World War II. He feels the US government’s protectionist move to bail out the ailing financial institutions - Bear Stearns, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae - will only add to the chaos, however, Sarah Palin the gun toting reindeer eating hockey mum with her incredible qualifications will no doubt be able to solve all of America's troubles and woes. LOL. A US depression is on its way.

#99- Mike

We appear to differ on a few ideas:

Is the "rent" paid by dead americans fighting in the the wrong country ?

Besides the ultimate sacrifices of our servicemen, what sacrifice has the general public made, or been asked to make, over the course of the Iraq and Afghan wars ?

Are spiralling energy, health, education and food costs the "rent" that you are referring to ?

Are these "goals" determined only by the dictates of the current administration. . . . or can we all play ?

How does Obama "devalue" our freedoms ?

How does talking with enemies undercut our ability to
deal with them forcibly at some later date ?
Is it not a good idea to "know your enemy?"

How does intelligence interfere with being a patriotic American ?

Since you've upped the vocabulary, you are now skating dangerously close to the proto/pseudo edge and may be cast into the abyss of your fellow elite !

If you keep thinking this way, you'll end up having conflicting ideas in your head, which would then make you a "flip-flopper," leading you to "change your mind" from time to time and therefore be labelled "libtard."

Mike - we both saw the video of Palin at that church assembly of god from June of this year.

We should all note that Mccain, palin & many americans are defending the actions of these georgian troops from august 7'th & 8'th. they attacked civilians primarilly. at first they attacked soldiers, but soon after they attacked civilians and by far the large majority of the people they killed were civilians. russian civilians. and the americans are defending this action.

georgian is a nationality, but the geographic boundaries of this state called georgia includes many people of non-georgian nationality. in these 2 break-away provinces I believe the majority of the people are non-georgian. and after these attacks where georgian troops attacked non-georgian civilians the anti-georgian feeling among the people in these provinces is very strong.

The americans are basically saying that whoever the georgians want to kill, the americans support this.

just like Palin's pastor whose name is Kilnan would say that anyone the Israelis want to kill we should support them in doing this. its a little insane.

Rob Bennett,

Actually Mike you may not need to worry about a US depression if former FBI consultant Paul Williams is correct in his assertion that al-Qaeda has been planning a spectacular nuclear attack using six or seven suitcase nuclear bombs that would be detonated simulantaneously in U.S. cities. "They want the most bang for the buck, and that is nuclear," Williams said He claims that al-Qaeda not only has obtained nuclear devices, but also likely has them in the US and will detonate them in the near future. It'll probably happen when Alaskan hockey mom Palin starts spouting off with threats to strafe the world. A US economic downturn will not effect me in the least. LOL

RealWorldObserver in 116 is correct when he says that psychopaths rule america. there is a mercantile clique similar to an aristocracy that rules the US and is attempting to implement its New World Order globally. It is not christian zealots who rule. Some christian zealots are tools of the group that does rule though. Sarah Palin for example. Within the mercantile clique that rules they are a bit like psychopaths. and they have within them a group that is religiously motivated. But it is not a christian type of faith. Famously, they have a ceremony in California each year of a human sacrifice (Bohemian Grove). and you're familiar with the cult Skull & Bones that some leaders belong to.

Skull & Bones leaders have been prominent in history. They founded the opium trade to china & dominated it. They helped the communists come to power in Russia in 1917. They helped the NAZIs come to power in Germany. They dominate high levels of the US government under recent decades.

No, it is not the christians who bring these things about. But some of the christians are stupid enough to overtly support the evil ones who do bring these bad things about.

This georgian leader Sasskavilli? said on American tv around August 20 that he started that fighting in service to the 'new world order'. His exact words were he said 'we are fighting for the new world order and American values'. thats what he said when he explained his soldiers attacking by surprise Russian civilians. I've read they killed 2,000.

People wonder why anti-American passions are getting so strong. Following is an article showing an American general who was forced out because he did not have the required disrespect for non-Americans. It also quotes President Bush as saying in a private meeting that Iranians are a$$holes. thats real nice, mr president, win friends and influence people!

wally, do you really respect corrupt people (rhetorical question you villify McCain based solely on a "documentary" that flies in the face of all evidence EVEN THE EVIDENCE FOUND ON THE CONSPIRACY SITES)... or are corrupt people by definition @55holes? the 9/11 conspiracy nuts are @55holes, they spread what they KNOW to be lies right up until the absolute pure PHYSICS of it would deprive them of the income they want to make (blown windows)... Moore is an @55hole he spreads what he KNOWS to be lies to further his political agenda.... columbine, 9/11, etc...

I challenge you to cite where I encouraged shelling civillians...

you wont find it... I never said it... I never thought it...

be offended...

and your argument lacks cohesion
either
"The area was entirely Soviet, but the southern part fell within the Georgian border when the 15 states divided." (this would be an argument FOR georgia possessing S.Osettia)
or
"South Ossentia had autonomy prior to that but that autonomy" do you really believe that the USSR would allow Osettia more freedom than Hungary, the Czechs, or Chechniya ?

well, which one is it?

lets just think about Google maps for a moment... first, google maps IS NOT THE BE-ALL END-ALL ARBITER OF INTERNATIONAL BORDERS
second, if you were the head of google, are you going to draw a line based on the accepted international borders and risk having your site blocked by russia? or are you going to label the area "in dispute" and hope that everyone is equally unhappy?

I will freely admit that Russia has been acting like S.Osettia is part of their country, with open borders, granting russian passports and even rigging "elections" where GEORGIANS were not allowed to vote in elections on GEORGIAN SOIL....

How accurate your observations are!
I too watched the many segments of the interview.
The comments by Chris Stephen reflects the increasing hysteria of extreme Left Wing Media who are hysterical with fear that The Republican ticket might win.
After jettisoning Hillary Clinton as their Democratic Nomination for President, and alienating 18 million of their own delegates who will probabaly vote for the Republican ticket, they are in a Fugue state wondering how best to destroy Governer Palin.
Charlie Gibson the NBC Interviewer sat back in his chair, glasses on the end of his nose and came across like a the condescending liberal media reporter that he is.
Governor Palin was not fiesty and nervous. She was thoughtful, and when he asked her the same question three different ways she used the 'broken record technique'that one uses when the recipient of an answer asked can't understand the answer,or they are trying to trap the person being interviewed,to give a yes or no answer.
Liberal Media in America are frothing at the mouth. It would seem from Chris Stephen's article that he is too!

Mike was pretty funny in 135 when he said,

"unless of course you are claiming that JPMorganChase IS the fed... in which case you are just plain dumb..."

The Federal Reserve is not the US government, it is a private bank founded in 1913 and given special powers (to create money) by legislation passed by the US government. The owners of the 12 largest US banks at that time were the original owners of the Federal Reserve. They made the 12 largest banks into what's called the 12 member banks of the federal reserve. They share in the FR's special powers to create new money. JP Morgan Chase is one of those 12 member banks. They do have an ownership position in the Federal Reserve.

The Federal Reserve took Bear Stearns from its owners and gave it to JP Morgan Chase. During this process they created a lot of new US dollars to facilitate. They gave some of those new US dollars to the Bear Stearns owners, but the Bear Stearns owners are not happy with the price and it was done against their will. The rest of the new money was given to JP MOrgan Chase who is one of the 12 member banks and shares ownership in the Federal Reserve.

It was a legalized theft.

wally at what level do you want to discuss "the fed"

my point about JPMChase not being "the fed" is that while they "own" a piece of the fed, there is NOTHING they can do about it, they cannot sell their piece, and they cannot buy a bigger piece, and while they have a seat on the board of directors (with representatives from MANY other banks), they do NOT have a seat on the board of governors (these are all senate approved appointees).

you do not like the fed? fair enough
- you dont LIKE being able to write checks? or by extension ATM transactions - no fed no MANAGED tranaction clearing house...
- you dont want banks to be traded on wallstreet? fair enough... I've always had a funny eye on that too... BUT... if you are weeping for the bear sterns investors... BOOO HOOOO THAT is how wall street works... at least the depositors were "protected"...
- you dont like the idea of an "elastic money supply"... I agree the soundbyte SOUNDS bad... however this concept has meant a MUCH smaller number of failed banks than we would see WITHOUT it...

you LIKE wild fluctuations of the "value" of our monetary supply? LOOK at the infation rates over the last 90 years... notice anyting about the last 25 years? really pretty flat... 70's pretty bad... 50's & 60's pretty good

and wally... "the fed" is a product of "pre 1930's" economic policies you glorify... your isolationist hero... Woodrow Wilson... CHAMPIONED it... what IS it wally??? good... bad...??? I'm finding it hard to follow your spin....

Neocons Dick Cheney and Sarah Paspalin are starting to stink real bad. This news cannot be good for John McCain and the republicans: Georgian President Saakashvili had long planned a military strike to seize back the breakaway region of South Ossetia but executed it poorly, making it easy for Russia to retaliate, Saakashvili's former defence minister said. Irakly Okruashvili, Georgia's leading political exile, said in a weekend interview in Paris that the United States was to blame for the war, having failed to check the ambitions of what he called a man with democratic failings. Saakashvili's days as president were now numbered, he said. The former defence minister's remarks are significant because Saakashvili has always maintained Russia started the war by invading his country. The Georgian president said he handed EU leaders last week "very strong proof" that Moscow was to blame, though he did not give details. But Okruashvili, a close Saakashvili ally who served as defence minister from 2004 to 2006, said he and the president worked together on military plans to invade South Ossetia and a second breakaway region on the Black Sea coast, Abkhazia. "Abkhazia was our strategic priority, but we drew up military plans in 2005 for taking both Abkhazia and South Ossetia as well," Okruashvili said. There was no immediate reaction from Saakashvili's officials to his remarks. No wonder. Let's now see if McCain and Paspalin have the guts to apologise to Russia and the rest of the world for the BS they've been spreading. Ha, LOL. This news is about to blow the warmonger republicans to pieces. LOL

Mike in 143: You have it wrong when you said I liked Woodrow Wilson. He was a democrat president who signed the legislation in 1913 to enable the federal reserve. He later said that he had unwittingly been a traitor to America by empowering them. The federal reserve is like a money machine for the mercantile clique that rules the US. It is a huge source of their power. You're very foolish Mike to think that the economy could not function without the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve is like a mafia organization that sucks up about 8-10% of our entire gdp every year without providing anything in return. I've discussed this in detail here in the past. No sense doing it again.

There is a huge trend against thinking in America. Many people are very much opposed to it. It makes discussion of significant issues impossible.

Governor Jesse ventura of Minnesota was in my town recently. He remarked how odd it was that Thomas Jefferson said that dissent was the mark of a patriot. And Herman Goerring said that it was easy to take a nation to war by merely convincing the people that they were under attack. Ventura said we've rejected Jefferson's words and instead live by Goerring's words.

The september 11'th events were staged propaganda trying to convince us that we are under attack. Since then we've attacked several other countries. How many times have we avenged the deaths of the 3,000 from that day? Dissent is not allowed on significant issues. Discussion is not allowed. But we're under attack and must attack others as a result. Ventura was right, we reject Jefferson, we embrace Goerring and anyone who says so is said to be anti-american and stupid.

Here are some things that pms said:

"Seriously Nomad, what is YOUR comment on the article, or does your troll booklet not direct you on making comments on articles rather than commenting on other"

This is from a guy who not only directs most of his comments toward other posters, but he does it in a threatening way. Here is a quote from his post:

"BTW Mike, it must really bug the hell out of you that you guys can't buly China eh, you really need us more than we need you, and it's best you don't forget that, we surely won't forget that."

So here you have made a baseless charge against Mike, because it was you and only you, pusmark, that brought up the bully business. Kind of rich after your tender treatment of the Tibetans and trying to send a shipload of weapons the Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe.

But then you made a bald face threat, " Best you don't forget that." That's a threat and everyone understands it as a threat. Since Mike is an American, and so am I, then a threat against one of us is a threat against all of us. Do you expect that kind of crude comment to go unchallenged. My comments in return you deserved. You started it pal, and now you're whining when you get called on it.

China is on the verge of economic collapse that will mirror what happened to Japan Inc. The CCP is a nepotistic warlord society and will self-destruct sooner rather than later. Since you made the threat, I responded in kind. The difference is we can carry through on our threats and you can't. #150 contd

Your mouth is writing check your ass can't cash and everyone knows it. China is yesterdays news, India is passing you up so fast you look like you are going backward. They have a free society and are capable of innovation, unlike China that simply steals things they could never think of on their own, what with being bereft of the freedom of thought and expression necessary for such things to happen.

So keep shooting off your mouth. You are deluded into a fantasy future that will never come to pass. You don't scare anyone because your army is the Mexican Federales writ large. Your army is an occupation force in your own country. You have to keep them inside your own borders because if you don't how are you going to keep a lid on this. This is an except from an AFP article. I will also post the link to the entire article:

" The protests were the latest in a series of confrontations over social issues in China, where tens of thousands of riots erupt each year, many stemming from grievances over abuse of power, corruption or land grabs.

In June, tens of thousands of people rioted in southwest Guizhou province over claims police had covered up an alleged rape and murder of a teenage girl."

Here is the link:

You keep saying we are trying to ram freedom and democracy in to a world population that would just as soon be slaves. What a joke. You are the ones that are bullying your own people. It is the CCP that is trying to force its version of "socialism" down the throats of its own people. We are not afraid of you and never will be. You are a slave state and each and every one of you is a slave and you know it. You will never beat free men. From the looks of things the only people you can beat are your own.

I find it strange that you find it nefarious that an exiled "defense minister" was involved with plans dating back to 2004... would you rather they attempted to expel russian forces from GEORGIAN territories with NO planning whatsoever?

Rob Bennett - I wish to tell you that you have a false impression of how things work in America. If a person from Georgian government said in an interview that they'd been planning to attack the Russians for some time, well that means nothing to the Americans. There are 6 corporations that own over 95% of the US media including newspapers in small towns even. This media is centrally controlled. It creates the reality in the minds of the Americans. Whatever a Georgian defense minister said in paris does not matter. Already, a US ambassador to Russia admitted freely in Russia that Georgians attacked first and even said that the Russian counter-attack was legitimate. It doesn't matter, that news won't be reported in America. In America the journalists' careers depend on creating the desired images. They develop a sense of how to stay out of trouble to protect their careers.

Also, despite that neo-cons are generally discredited, it does not matter. The people who rule us put their people into all positions of power. Perhaps the term 'neo-con' won't be used any more. Doesn't matter, people who serve the clique that rules will be in all positions of power.

A few days ago in a speech barack Obama said that he favors drafting people into military service. He said that when we have a war he needs to draft people to serve in that war. He said in his administration he would do that. People are wondering if Obama is trying to lose the election. That comment a few days ago about pig with lipstick was possibly done for the purpose of losing. Thats how things work in America. Of the last 2 candidates sometimes 1 of them will try to cause himself to lose. It has happened before. This is because the real powers behind the scenes dictate it to be so. and even the candidates go along. things are staged, scripted.

The prostitutes of propaganga. These media giants are controlled by extremely sadistic people who make money on the world’s oil dependency, drug dealing (legal and illegal), the raping of our natural world, weapons production and distribution, and of course, war. These are their interests and the “news” assures profitability in all of the above. Washing brains and making gains.

"Washing brains and making gains."

that is exactly correct. People around the world want to think that America will have substantial change or a sort of a revolution. This is very unlikely. I linked to that woman catherine Austine Fitts' essay on the Housing bailout bill and was trying to get people to read that. Fitts made the point that it is not difficult to solve our problems if we only overthrow the aristocrat class that rules us and undo their schemes which are causing so many problems. Technically she is right, it is easy for us to plan changes that will really solve problems. but as Fitts noted in her essay the problems are not merely political, the problems are cultural & spiritual in that the Americans just don't have it in them to make these changes. They are ruled over by a mercantile clique that acts as our aristocratic class firmly in charge of our country & our institutions. The Americans have such pride and enough stupidity mixed in that they are actually loyal to this aristocratic class that does so much harm to so many.

The world will develop more & more passionate hatred for the Americans. The Americans will develop more & more excuses. I'm hopeful that we Americans will be able to make things comfortable for ourselves until what I see as our inevitable end - being on the bad end of a global war. Our economic situation is becoming difficult. We do have a lot of people in our country who are not making it. My main concern is for them. I have no delusion that the Americans are somehow going to overthrow the evil ones that rule here.

Americans have played a huge role in world history IMHO. I know peole outside our country like to deny this, but I feel it is true. And I think we'll continue to play a huge role until our demise. We've always been talented, resourceful and great achievers. I hope that these qualities can be used wisely by some of us in America until the end. As we do have a lot of challenges. We will alwa

I've driven all across the US, from Los Angeles, San Francisco to Kansis, Las Vegas and New York and found Americans friendly and hospitable, but extremely ignorant and ill informed. Such a shame. With the arrival of warmongers Bush and Cheney, I developed a passionate hatred towards them as most Europeans have. How can a western country like the US allow itself to be brainwashed so easily by the major corporate media?
Despite the undeniable integrity and ethics of many media agents around the world, these people are unquestionably the minority. By the nature of the system the media agent’s role is to perpetuate the “necessary illusions” that nurture ignorance, injustice and war. Nowhere is this more real and dangerous than in America, and indeed it is the American corporate media giants that dominate the global media system. Should the mushroom clouds rise and World War III become a reality we will in great part have those who control these corporate giants, their minions, and our own ignorance to thank.

you seem to be forgetting something.... BO polls 7-10 points better than his numbers come out in the ballot box...

look at this "electoral map"
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/

now consider what happens to all those blue states if you adjust for BO's overpolling....

a reagan-esque landslide that looks something like THIS:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/?map=17

the question quickly becomes how long do BO's fellow DNC candidates embrace their lame candidate?

and how long do BO's donors pour money down a dry well?

your post has what I was saying BACKWARDS... I was never implying that GEORGIA was putting more GEORGIANS in S.Ossetia (how/why would they do that... that is RUSSIAN controlled areas... and if you ARE georgian, you have NO voice in the vaunted RUSSIAN controlled political process)... I was wondering where the ethnic georgians that lived in S.ossetia in 1989 (the last year ANYTHING resembling hard census numbers exist for) had gone... the UN population projection figures I saw say the georgian population has dropped about 40%...

and somehow RUSSIA has would have you believe that GEORGIA is cleansing Osettians... in lands CONTROLLED BY RUSSIA...

I realize that logic isnt your strong suit... but lets give it a go anyway.... if RUSSIA is controlling S.Osettia, HOW is GEORGIA doing ANYTHING resembling ethnic clensing.... it just doesnt pass the sniff test.... especially when the GEORGIAN numbers are dropping in the areas under RUSSIAN control....

now if you are saying that the UN numbers are corrupt then there is nothing to discuss... well you probably aught to look at WHO is on the Security council...

this all reeks of poland in the 30's... and there were a LOT of people playing the pacifist line then too... and EVERYONE paid dearly....

Hi, I've been posting on this forum for about two years. Dj and TSW are not the same person. TSW is a proud Bolshevik but she really knows her Hegel and Feuerbach. She can clearly explain what "dialectical materialism" means. Personally, I like her, and would enjoy meeting her some day because her opinions, though hopelessly anachronistic and anti-human, are thoughtful.

There used to be a professor at my Alma Mater, the University of California, San Diego, named Angela Davis. Angela was a fervent communist but was fun to listen to because she had a coherent, if mistaken philosophy and like TSW could name the progression of philosophy and economics that led to Marx and Lenin.

Djerkors, is simply a rabid but toothless Chihuahua. He is the reason that Wally is on planet earth ( I will explain this in a later post). He is personification of the notion that it is the empty vase that rings the loudest. Djerky, is using the name of the wife of a poster on this forum. Can you imagine anything less manly, more cowardly, and personally disgusting than to reference, by name, someones wife. There are a number of theories as why he does this, none of them mutually exclusive. The majority opinion, and the one that I subscribe to is very simple and it was Sigmund Freud that coined the phrase, "pen1s envy."

This Bible beating two facer will take away your rights. Her church condems gays and lesbians and says that it can be "prayed away". I want my daughters to have the freedom of choice, my gay friends not to be scorned and the rifle toting woman to go back to Alaska and stay there. You hit another low-
Lynne is not a racist

As for the "bubba factor"
if Colin Powell was running there would be no "bubba factor" even though he is African American. Powell would win in a landslide.

What does exist in reference to Obama is a gap, a huge gap, between cultures.
Obama is from Chicago, a place where you never feel safe because of crime, you lock your car doors. Neighborhoods are controlled by violent gangs. High drop out rate from school, high criminal rate, etc. Lots of federal funding but never any improvements. Chicago is also considered a politically corrupt city.

The 'typical white' person, as Obama refers to America, isn't racist- they live in a different culture which is 'normal'.

The 'typical white person' doesn't identify or feel warm and fuzzy with hip hop or rap music that is violent to women, or black guys with 50 pounds of gold jewelry selling drugs to their kids.
The 'typical white person' does not understand Black Liberation Theology, (Obama's church), and frankly it scares us. It doesn't make us racist. It makes us from a different culture.
Having the same values as the president is a question the typical person decides when he votes.

here's an article from Washington Post. Is there any real difference between Obama and the policies of the current ruling regime?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/14/AR2008091401973.html

Or is Obama just a puppet showing a different image, but really shilling for the same as Bush/McCain?

YankeeSpirit in 199 talks about grizzly bears harvesting fish from the rivers of Canada. A Canadian university did a study and found that the fish in Canada'a fresh-water rivers are increasingly unable to reproduce properly, their sex organs are being confused, fish are developing both female & male features, they are increasingly less able to reproduce. The researchers said this is because of all the pharmaceutical drugs that people are taking. Especially the ritalin and prozac given out so freely to children. This is done because of government policy. Schools that don't hire psychiatrists to force children onto drugs are penalized. Parents whose children do take the drugs are given a monthly check (disability check). We're on a suicide path. Both republicans & democrats support this suicide path.

Here is an interesting article about how the US is a great world leader.

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/09/america-the-glo.html#more

Obama said he would shut down Guantanamo. But he didn't really criticize strongly the torture institution and he didn't say he'd eliminate it. A majority of Americans are opposed to torture under any condition. Why is the US government pursuing the torture policy? I thought this was the land of the free and home of the brave? Are 'we the people' in charge?

its not the drugs wally... ITS THE LIBERAL CRUD that RUNS (ruins?) the entire educational process... from the parents to whom DISCIPLINE is a dirty word, to teachers, lawmakers, judges, administrators who have made a MOCKERY of the educational process...

what would have happened to you if when a teacher told you to "SIT DOWN!" you had responded with a one finger salute and an "eff-off!"

for me, it would have STARTED with a march down to the principals office for some "quality time" with the "board of education" (aka a PADDLE)...

my 3 kids have all managed to wend their way thru the education system "substance free"... (knock on wood)... ALL of them knew that if I got a call from school, the conversation began and ended with what THEY did wrong... before ANYBODY starts down the "abuse" line, I can count the "spankings" my kids got on ONE hand...

my daughter is the MOST outspoken in FAVOR of corporal punishment in the classroom... she views those with "disruptive tendencies" with TOTAL contempt... (and bearing her Scots great grandmothers genes, is not ashamed to put a voice to her opinions)...

IMHO, the perscription drugs in the classroom epidemic is a BYPRODUCT of the liberal influences of upper education

one question for the EU-ers...
what does YOUR education system do with "students" who decide to disrupt the classroom learning environment?

do you let them stay in the classroom.... or boot them out... and what can they do to get back in?

That's not very nice Mikey, where's your manners?
"your little rant about Iran"
If Israel has nuclear weapons, and the lunatic Netanyahu becomes their leader, then it's only fair that every other country in the middle east should acquire nuclear weapons as well. Come on Mikey, all for one, one for all. America has their little nuclear sidekick buddy Israel therefore Russia's nuclear sidekick buddy should be Iran. It seems the obvious choice. We need to balance the scales.

notice you didnt dispute it...

rob... our direction challenged friend

israel, please compare and contrast the differences between Iran and Israel with regards to Nuclear weaponry...

let me start for you...
Israel neither confirms nor denies nuclear armament ambitions
Iran says its their right

Iran says "wipe israel from the map"
Israel says nothing about Iran...

ok
your turn...

"Israel neither confirms nor denies nuclear armament ambitions"
Not quite true, Olmert did in fact state that Israel has nuclear weapons a year ago. Mind you he wasn't very popular with the jewish media after making the statement.
Let's ask Mordechai Vanunu who served in the Israeli army before starting his new job Dimona Nuclear Research Center in the Negev desert. He worked there fron 1976 to 1985 before confirming that Dimona was a secret nuclear weapons production plant producing nuclear warheads. He was subsequently jailed for 18 years, the first 11 years he served in solitary confinement.
"Israel says nothing about Iran..."
That's not accurate either, there's not a day that goes by without Israel complaining about Iran's so called nuclear ambitions.
The US has more problems at hand with Pakistan ordering it's forces to open fire on US troops that tresspass into their territory, the collapse of the Ukrainian government and the bloodbath at wall street.

I hate American war criminals and their supporters that get away with murdering innocent civilians. It's time for everyone everywhere to stand up and do something about it right now otherwise these US criminals will carry on doing it to other people. The abhorrent slaughter of almost one million civilians in Iraq in the name of freedom by the US is absolutely disgusting and needs to be addressed by the world. People can criticize me all they like but if they don't have the guts to stand up and speak the truth then they're as bad as Bush and Cheney. When the herd goes one way, I go the other.

Hey Kathy, well that's a relief. It was hard to believe there's so many staunch pro-republican Americans on a Scottish forum. They really can make you very angry at times with their one-sided pack-attack mentality. I wonder if some the following identities belong to the same person: Enquiring Scot ,Lynne Palm Beach, Dragonhead Dalain China, 57 Nomad, Trade-wind, Carolyn1, Great Scott, D-945, iuris-dea, Yankee Spirit76, older Scotland, James Donald?

you want the US to freely allow US citizens to be tried in foreign courts

problem is this, we have this little thing called "innocent until PROVEN guilty"...

which means that there often cases where the "guilty" walk free... OJ Simpson... dispite a preponderance of evidence to their guilt...

if you honestly believe your "war criminal" charge... bring it on pal... our courts are liberal enough to hear just about ANY frivolous charge...

Why not Mikey? One world, one court for international war crimes. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
"our courts are liberal enough to hear just about ANY frivolous charge"
Your courts especially and the supreme court judges are appointed by who? Republicans? Liberal enough? I doubt it. Perhaps we should relocate the UN to say Panama and set up a new international court there as well.

for one to to be branded a criminal that requires a decision by a court of law! they are not criminals because you scream that they are! it would be easy to get Bin laden to agree to that! everyone knows how he stands up for peace stability and love for his fellow man, but what authority does he have? you said your parents were Scottish? they certainly would not have taught you to hate like you do! Scots don't make good haters we disagree with everyone on everything form milk being white or cream coloured! to can pigs fly its not your view point I pick up on its your hate! no one can view anything through hate with any objectivity and that includes you!

I have only one identity "oder" I have never used any other ID I have no intention to deceive anyone unlike
Kathy-Athey, who has changed ID more than once.Ever wonder why posters need to do such a thing must be because they are honest and above board eh! most of the other posters I have had an exchange of views with so the majority of them appear genuine take Kathy-Athey with a pinch of salt! I am not pro anything Republican or Democrat.. accept what's right! I am one of these Scots you kick me!.. I kick back.

"When the herd goes one way, I go the other."
that sounds more Scottish.

you disparaging remarks about Palin clearly show biased contempt for America and Americans in general, I don't know Palin either however she was correct to point out that it was a NATO condition that should an attack occur on a member it would be considered an attack on all NATO members, she did not dream this up! would you suggest that any future American Government or other NATO member dishonour their commitment to
NATO? you blatantly claim "criminal" were there is no conviction by a law court! and were there is off

There's probably a number of people on this forum using multiple names pretending they are different people. Who knows? What I do know is there appears to be an unprecedented amount of Americans on this forum that all sound like the same people.
My folks hail from Edinburgh and Fife and abhor American republicans. In Australia you're taught not to beat around the bush, you call a spade a spade. If you believe someone to be a criminal you tell them right to their face.
Well my criticism of Sarah Palin qualifications was well founded as it now appears prominent Republican Chuck Hagel has just said "She doesn't have any foreign policy credentials," Hagel said in an interview published Thursday by the Omaha World-Herald. "You get a passport for the first time in your life last year? I mean, I don't know what you can say." "I think it's a stretch to, in any way, to say that she's got the experience to be president," he said I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia,'" he said. "That kind of thing is insulting to the American people." Now her husband Todd Palin is refusing to comply with a subpoena in the troopergate probe. With the US economy plummeting her days are now numbered.

its never crossed my mind to use another ID...

why?

I can easily do battle with all you ID-swapping mental midgets simultaneously... lol

its confusing enough remembering which of you midgets said what and on what thread....

anyway
from the looks of the link you posted I would expect some "boy" site... heck rob, I get enough at home not to need ANY "site" and no, I dont lean that way... so... guess I'll have to leave that one to your admiration... lol... what that german-american wifey maken you wear that nasty collar again?? ROFL... sorry couldnt resist

you are aware that "trooper-gate"...
1. like the "book banning", the trooper, Wooten, was never fired. So in REALITY it is largely ficticious.
2. Monegan, the administrator that Palin DID "fire" was not doing his job and was ACTUALLY reassigned. he quit rather than accept that reassignment. so he wasnt "fired" either. HE QUIT.

hate to put those little FACTS out there to mess up your little fantasies....

you are aware that this supboena was issued by a DEMOCRAT judiciary comittee member, YESTERDAY, for a hearing TODAY .... nobody trying to manufacture some political capital there...

oh and it IS Todd Palins RIGHT to request alternative dates to testify... the state also could choose to depose Palin at any place they might agree to... or the STATES perogative to take this matter to their legislature....

but "REFUSING TO COMPLY WITH A SUBPOENA" is a much more glitzy headline... isnt it?

220 Rob Bennett,

Rob "probability" isn't fact!

you said!

"What I do know is there appears to be an unprecedented amount of Americans on this forum that all sound like the same people."

well I have been on these boards for about 2 years and as I said previously the majority appear to be genuine there is no restrictions on the number Americans/Australians contributing to the debate on these boards and why should there be?

the American Declaration of Independence was signed by around 78 signatories thirty eight were Scots or Scots descent which shows that the Scots have always been involved with republicans! I would have understood your point better had you left out American! but again your biased sticks out,the Scottish National party is a republican party and they are the devolved government in Scotland now, and if the polls are correct doing very well! so what it shows is a substantial support for republicans, your parents may or not approve! (unless its just "American" republicans they abhor) that is merely their opinion it doesn't make it right or wrong except to you!Scots have always had involvement in republican politics all over the world

you said
Well my criticism of Sarah Palin qualifications was well founded as it now appears prominent Republican Chuck Hagel has just said "She doesn't have any foreign policy credentials,"

well to get the qualifications you have to sit the test! when Hagel started out he didn't have the experience either! the state of Alaska are happy with her! sounds like sour grapes to me, lacks convincing argument!

she said

I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia,"

and you look out from Australia and you see Palin therefore you know something about her?

see the similarity! let her first get in wrong before you criticize.

this was what she reiterated at the interview and was correct her understanding of the NATO charter shows that she has some grasp of foreign affairs, does Hagel disagree with what she said on article 5?

it was reported today in the Sun that the US has warned Russia that if Georgia becomes a member of NATO they will honour Article 5 if Russia intervenes in Georgia! and she`s isn't in office yet! your putting in the boot to fast.

Sounds to me like Tood Palin is thumbing his nose at the law.
I thing McCain chose Palin hoping to receive what Bill Clinton received from Monica. McCain may have a heart attack sooner rather than later if that's the case.
Sarah Paspalum received her passport in 2007. Wow, she must have incredible foreign policy experience.
