FIVE Palestinian farmers are suing the state of Israel for failing to remove an unauthorised West Bank settlement that has sprung up on their property.
The lawsuit in a Jerusalem court, which is being argued on behalf of the farmers by the Israeli Yesh Din (There is a law) group, is the first time Palestinians have asked for compensation over seizures of their land for settlement outposts.

It highlights a new, aggressive use of the court system by Israeli settlement opponents, who believe time is running out for a peaceful solution.

The five Palestinians, residents of the villages of Burka and Dir Dibwan, are asking for £240,000 in compensation.

Guga II,

It's long past time that the Israelis had international sanctions imposed on them for their attempted genocide of the Palestinian people, and their continual and continuing defiance of, and refusal to comply with, Security Council and General Assembly resolutions.

#3 I hope you are right. This has to stop but while the israelies think their big mate will back them up, they will continue withthese illegal settlements.

let's hope a change of goverment in the USA will bring a less partisan view of the region.

At least some Jews are prepared to speak out about the shameful treatment of the Palestinians by the Israelis:

9--so a few brave and resourceful Palestinians FINALLY try to pursue resistance through non-violent means and you bemoan the supposed futility of their efforts?

I suppose you're happier with violence.

Your agenda is clear despite your muddled syntax, unschooled diction and infantile use of exclamation points.

Israel learned long ago that to treat an arab with kid gloves is an invitation for a sucker punch. The Palestinians have a homeland. It's called Jordan.

Pay them in gold!!
Pay them twice!!
