Scots close in on England in world rankings

SCOTLAND are now just one spot below England after the latest FIFA world rankings were released.
As a result of their absence from Euro 2008, England fell six places from ninth to 15th, while the Scots climbed one place to 16th.
Spain are the new world top-ranked side following their victory at the European Championship, ending Argentina's nine-month reign at the top of the pile.
The Spanish moved up three places after their 1-0 victory over Germany in the final of Euro 2008 on Sunday.
World champions Italy are second in the rankings, with Germany's appearance in the final lifting them to third position, ahead of Brazil, Holland and Argentina.
Of the other home nations, Northern Ireland are down one place to 33rd and Wales drop a place to 54th. The Republic of Ireland climb one place to 41st on the list.
