RIDERS from the Livingston-based Pedal Power cycling team go into Sunday's penultimate round of the Scottish Power Renewables Super Six Series with a double incentive to do well.
Not only is the 75-mile Tour of the Whang in West Calder promoted by Pedal Power, but the team's riders can secure overall success if results go their way.
Gordon Murdoch currently leads in the overall standings from his teammate Gary Hand and, with the only other rider still capable of securing enough points to lift the inaugural title, Ross Creber, not competing, Sunday could see the champagne corks popping.
However, the home club riders will not have matters all their own way, with several other contenders looking to make their mark, among them Callum Wilkinson of the Edinburgh-based Bicycleworks team who has recently struck form.
Meanwhile, Pedal Power could make it a double, with Niall Aitken currently leading in the support series, where the strength in depth of Edinburgh Road Club is evident, with 15 riders in the 60-strong field for the race.
Among the crop of riders from the club is in-form Claire Thomas, who will be looking to seal the overall win in the women's series.
