EDINBURGH cycle speedway riders Jake Slight, Craig Newsome and Mikey Hewitson helped Scotland to second place in the home international competition at Redbraes Park.
England won by 21 points, and despite fielding a side with limited international experience, their riders posted 12 wins in the 18 heats. Ireland pipped Wales to third spot.

The Scots lifted silverware at the same venue on Sunday when they defeated Ireland in the second leg of the Murphy Shield by 100-73 to record an overall aggregate win of 168-133.

Slight and Hewitson set the tone for the Scots with a 1-2 in the second heat of the afternoon and the hosts supplied 14 of the 18 heat winners.
