TEAMS of walkers and cyclists are being challenged to help some of Scotland's most vulnerable children.
Barnardo's Scotland is urging local people to take part in the Cairngorm 50k Challenge, which involves hiking, climbing and cycling through breathtaking scenery.

The teams of four will set off on August 30, hiking 15 kilometres up Cairngorm, Scotland's sixth highest mountain.

They will then complete a 35k cycle ride through the Glenmore and Abernethy forests.

Last year's first woman to complete the course was Nicky Waters from Kirknewton.

Her teammate Susie Hogg, who won the prize for the person who enjoyed themselves the most, said: "The event was very well organised and well worth the trip north. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, individuals or companies thinking of taking part in a challenge event, it fitted everyone's abilities."

Last year's event raised £70,000. The registration fee per person is £100. In addition to this fee, there is a minimum sponsorship of £450 per person. All teams will receive an entry pack with training tips, sponsorship guides and fundraising tips.
